Here at IELTS Medical, we've seen hundreds of nurses from the Philippines through the various examinations they need in order to register with the NMC here in the UK. During this Coronavirus Crisis, we've been supporting the key workers battling on the frontline to keep our nation safe. This includes volunteering to be part of various initiatives in the London area. Recently, as organised by the Kanlungan Filipino Consortium, we were honoured to be able to deliver the freshly prepared meals to London healthcare organisations. The initiative was started by Maria GI who created a GoFundMe page, to raise money to provide free Filipino meals to NHS staff, some of whom arrived in the UK only days before flights from the Philippines were stopped. The dishes we delivered were prepared by The Adobros - which is a Filipino "Super Club" in South London.

I was very excited to assist with delivering meals. Those who know me very well, know that I like to help, donate, support and do great things for our society. Especially now, during the lockdown, I was very happy to support our fantastic healthcare workers and even more so  to see outside of my household’s four walls!

On the day, Nonny picked me up and we started our short trip firstly to Adobros in New Cross to Sidcup and then Surrey Quays. We were warmly welcomed by nurses who seemed tired but happy and grateful – one of our clients even gave us a card for us and for the ‘beautiful chefs’!

I hope that the nurses enjoyed the food and if you’ve not yet tried Filipino cuisine, I highly recommend it.

During this hard time I feel thankful for this opportunity to Adobros, but first and foremost to IELTS Medical who willingly demonstrates its corporate social responsibility as often as possible. It makes me very happy to work for a company like this.
