Well then great news students, IELTS medical’s next social will be at Madame Tussauds London! Madame Tussauds is a wax museum that is featured in several cities across the world and displays waxworks of famous people, historical figures and film characters from across the ages. Originating in Britain in the 1800s, Madame Tussauds was created by Marie Tussauds and is visited by millions of people each year. Visitors will have the opportunity to take photos of/with the wax figures and buy items from the museums giftshop to remember their experience. There is the opportunity to learn more about British and other cultures when visiting this museums and see some fantastic art work.
Here are few more fun facts about Madam Tussauds.
- Marie Tussauds first sculpture was of Francois Voltaire and she was only 16 when she made it.
- Each wax work takes approximately six months, 1088 kg of wax, more than 250 photographs and accurate measurements and over £40,000 to make.
- Each public figure is invited in by Madam Tussauds to take their measurements in order to create life like protraits however if the person in question is deceased/a historical figure, then a team of experts will use primary and secondary sources to create the wax works.
